Navratri Bommai Kollu.

The Navratri Bommai Kollu Festival is held in almost every South Indian Tamilian house. It commences on the Amavasya day of the month of Bhadrapada, .Bommai Kolu is traditionally a women's festival that Tamilians celebrate during Dasshera . Every year, a series of steps is set up and kolu bommai or dolls are displayed. These dolls typically depict gods or village scenes and weddings. A kolu can be as simple or as elaborate as one likes. The woman of the house invites other women to come inspect the kolu, eat a few snacks, exchange a little gossip and go home with a couple of small goodies. During this time, the girls and women make rounds from house to house during those nine days of Navrathri. Gandhi and the Nobel

   Mohandas Gandhi, the Mahatma, “the Great Soul” , was never awarded the Nobel Peace Prize .  This has been a perennial source of unhappiness for those Indians inclined to view Gandhi as by far the most deserving candidate of the twentieth century, and the hand of Britain, and the imperial West more generally, is seen as having been instrumental in depriving Gandhi of this “great honor”.  Many Nobel Laureates in Peace are themselves agreed that Gandhi should have been honored before they were honored.  The Dalai Lama, in his acceptance speech in Oslo on 10 December 1989, described himself as accepting the award “as a tribute to the man who founded the modern tradition of non-violent action for change, Mahatma Gandhi, whose life taught and inspired me.”  [  Many others besides Indians have pondered over Gandhi’s omission from the list of winners, and as Gwladys Fouché and Sally Bolton wrote in the Guardian not long ago, the Norwegian Nobel Committ...

Tyagaraja was born in 1767 in Tiruvarur , Tiruvarur district , in what is now called Tamil Nadu , to Kakarla Ramabrahmam and Sitamma in a Telugu Brahmin family of the Mulukanadu subsect. [1] He was named Tyagaraja, after Lord Tyagaraja , the presiding deity of the temple at Tiruvarur . Tyagaraja was born at his maternal grandfather Giriraja Kavi 's house. Giriraja Kavi was a poet-composer in the court of the king of Thanjavur . Giriraja was born in Kakarla village, Cumbum taluk in Kurnool district (AP).
